  • Walgreens partners with UCSF Medical Center and School of Pharmacy on cutting-edge pharmacy

    SAN FRANCISCO — UC-San Francisco and Walgreens on Tuesday opened a Walgreens store on the UCSF campus that aims to improve medication safety, decrease healthcare costs and help patients use medicines more effectively by offering pharmacist-based patient care and expanded health-and-wellness services to the community. A joint effort among Walgreens, the UCSF School of Pharmacy and UCSF Medical Center, “Walgreens at UCSF” also will explore new models for improving overall patient care.

  • Detroit Lions, Walgreens provide complimentary flu shots to Detroit Lions Academy students

    DETROIT — The Detroit Lions and Walgreens earlier this week teamed up to tackle the flu in Detroit Public Schools. On Feb. 25 Walgreens, the official health and wellness partner of the Detroit Lions, will give Detroit Lions Academy students flu immunizations.

    Students who choose to get flu immunizations will have the opportunity to participate in a Playworks recess session that includes special guest Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell.

    Families — parents and siblings — of students are also welcome to receive complimentary flu immunizations.

  • All Take Care Health worksite centers now medical home accredited

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care have announced that all of the more than 50 primary care worksite health centers managed by Take Care Employer Solutions Group, a division of Walgreens that provides workplace health solutions, have received medical home accreditation.

    NEW YORK — A recent poll of U.S. millennial, gen X and Baby Boomer consumers found that traditional retail categories are increasingly blurring, and more and more shoppers are turning to drug stores to buy groceries.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Further expanding the scope of convenient, preventive health care services provided by its pharmacists, Walgreens on Thursday announced it is now offering daily testing for cholesterol, blood glucose and body composition at nearly 200 stores in California. Each test also includes a free blood pressure reading and personal consultation with a Walgreens pharmacist.
