RONKONKOMA, N.Y. NBTY on Tuesday announced the recall of its Air Shield, Air Protector, Immune System Support and AirHealth Effervescent 10-tablet containers, and its Stick Packs 8-stick containers -- all private-label versions of Airborne -- because they may contain undeclared soy, according to a posting of the release on the Food and Drug Administration website.

The recall impacts a host of pharmacy retailers, including CVS, Safeway, Supervalu, Target, Walgreens and Walmart. The products all fall under NBTY’s Leiner Health Solutions umbrella.

NEW YORK Walmart isn’t letting the lack of a physical presence in select Midwestern and Northeastern markets hinder its ability to offer prescription drugs, thanks to the expansion of a mail-order program begun earlier this year in Michigan. The program enables customers to receive a 90-day supply of approximately 300 generics for $10 via free mail delivery, or any of approximately 3,000 other pharmaceuticals that the company offers.

The pharmacy at Wal-Mart is in for some major changes in the coming years as the retailer looks to upgrade its prescription drug departments in keeping with a broader strategy to make the customer experience at its stores fast, clean and friendly.
