Complied by Google Trends data, and the company’s own beauty intel, some key findings include that Utah and Oregon are the most interested states in beauty gifts during the peak gift-buying season — Black Friday to Christmas Eve.

Perfume gift sets and face creams both tied for the No. 1 most popular. Both categories had 11 states each, meaning 22 of all 50 states are searching for one or two of these items comparatively more than others, the report stated.

In addition, perfume gift sets are popular in such southern states as Texas, Florida and Georgia, with interest stretching up to Missouri and Illinois. Face cream was a big hit in such areas as Alabama, Iowa, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

Nail polish was the next big searched category, with 10 states leading — Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Lastly, New York is the only state looking for lipstick, but South Dakota leads when it comes to choosing between eyeshadow palettes, body lotion and hair masks, the company said.

To come up with these results, Yves Rocher did a Google Trends search of beauty gifts in the United States from Nov. 27, 2020 to Dec. 24, 2020.

From there, the company pulled the U.S. region-based data to understand which states have the highest comparative search volume.

A list of 10 products was collected using the brand’s own intel, which included lipstick, eyeshadow palette, face cream, face serum, perfume gift set, make up gift set, body lotion, bath set gift, hair mask and nail polish.

Overall, the method used by the company to obtain these results indicates which product was searched more frequently in comparison to all other states in the nation.
