  • Legislation to expose PBM rebates filed in Senate

    WASHINGTON — Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., along with Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., on Wednesday introduced legislation that would, for the first time, require Pharmacy Benefit Managers in Medicare to disclose their aggregate rebates provided by drug manufacturers, as well as the amount of those rebates that are passed on to health plans, therefore lowering prices for people who need prescription drugs.

    ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores introduced an advertising campaign, referred to as its “Access Agenda,” in preparation for its RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill, taking place March 14 and March 15 in Washington D.C. The ads state “Pharmacists provide access to better healthcare every day,” and “We’re here to provide access to health policy solutions.”

  • NCPA calls for Congressional hearings on DIR practice

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Community Pharmacists Association on Friday requested Congressional hearings on legislation, the Improving Transparency and Accuracy in Medicare Part D Spending Act (S. 413 and H.R. 1038), that would stop the practice of pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration fees being applied retroactively under Medicare Part D.

  • CVS to dispense naloxone prescription-free in four more states

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Pharmacy added Arizona, Georgia, Iowa and South Carolina to the list of stated where it now dispenses the opioid overdoes reversal drug naloxone to patients without a prescription. CVS Pharmacy locations in 41 states are now able to increase access to this medication.

  • NCPA endorses latest prescription transparency legislation

    WASHINGTON — Reps. Doug Collins, R-Ga., and Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, on Thursday introduced H.R. 1316, the Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act, to protect taxpayers and the community pharmacists who serve them by requiring greater transparency from pharmacy benefit managers.
