  • Publix Pharmacy adds Montelukast to its Free Medication Program

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Pharmacy added Montelukast — a prescription medication for asthma and allergies — to its Free Medication Program.

    The Publix program provides up to a 90-day supply of certain common prescription medications at no charge to pharmacy customers for as a long as prescribed.

  • NCPA supports DIR companion legislation introduced in Senate

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Following its support of a similar measure introduced in the House of Representatives, the National Community Pharmacists Association last week endorsed bipartisan legislation introduced in the Senate by Sens. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Jon Tester, D-Mont., that would prohibit pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration fees from being applied after the point-of-sale for prescription drugs dispensed to Medicare beneficiaries.

  • Walgreens designates more than 50 specialty pharmacies as cancer-specialized centers

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Wednesday designated more than 50 of its local specialty pharmacies as cancer-specialized locations. Each of the locations will be led by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who have advanced cancer training and expertise and are committed to making sure patients get the medications and answers they need.

  • Genoa to open 2 pharmacies at southern New Mexico health centers

    SILVER CITY, N.M. — Genoa is bringing its on-site pharmacy model to Hidalgo Medical Services, the only federally qualified health center serving two rural New Mexico counties, HMS announced recently. Genoa’s pharmacy, slated to open in April, will operate at the HMS clinic in Lordsburg, N.M., and will be the only full-service pharmacy in Hidalgo county, bringing services to some 5,000 residents. 
     
  • Texas Pharmacy Association set to roll out adherence project

    AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Pharmacy Association announced recently that it had received a grant from the Community Pharmacy Foundation and the Texas Dept. of State Health Services to develop and implement new community-based digital linkages between pharmacists and providers that is set to kick off this month.
     
  • Retail CEOs discuss Border Adjustment Tax with President Trump

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — Target CEO Brian Cornell was among eight retailers who headed to Washington Wednesday to express their disapproval of the proposed Border Adjustment Tax. The group, which also includes Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly, Gap CEO Art Peck and Autozone CEO William Rhodes, met with President Donald Trump, Kevin Brady, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee — responsible for writing taxes — and members of the U.S. Senate.
