Food Lion is acquiring four Bi-Lo stores from Southeastern Grocers that operate in Greater Myrtle Beach, Florence, and Columbia, South Carolina.

"The more virtual the world becomes, the more need there is for the real world," Ahold Delhaize's CEO shared in last presentation during company's annual meeting.

The investment announcement follows the February completion of a new Peapod wareroom opened in North Coventry, Pa. that will enable Peapod and Giant to serve up to 25% more shoppers in the greater Philadelphia area.

With the announcements Thursday that Dick Boer, Ahold Delhaize CEO, and Mats Jansson, chairman, are set to retire, the global supermarket operator named Frans Muller, CEO, and Jan Hommen, chairman, respectively.

The National Wildlife Federation estimates that allergy season now lasts 27 days longer, as a result of rising global temperatures.

The 2018 tournament showcased Food Lion's media savvy with a record-breaking 2.9 million social, broadcast and print media impressions.

The grants have been awarded to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia ($570,000), Penn State Children’s Hospital Hershey ($280,000) and Geisinger Medical Center ($150,000).

All locations will remain open as Farm Fresh stores until the transaction is complete, which is expected in May. Pharmacies at all locations will also remain open through the transition.
