SOLON, Ohio and SAN FRANCISCO — Efficient Collaborative Retail Marketing has acquired a technology company that has been changing how retailers discover new suppliers.
The company on Tuesday announced the acquisition of RangeMe, which streamlines new product discovery in a way that ECRM said will complement the foundation it has laid in helping buyers discover new products and improve category planning effectiveness.
“Technology has always been a crucial component of our business, but this acquisition will accelerate and strengthen our ability to help buyers and sellers work through the category planning process as the most complete solution in the retail industry,” ECRM CEO Greg Farrar said. “By incorporating RangeMe’s digital product discovery solution into ECRM’s processes and services, we can be the true extension of the buyer’s sourcing and category planning efforts.”
Besides offering a platform for product discovery by buyers, as well as a way for buyers to manage inbound product submissions, RangeMe’s technology also gives suppliers increased control over their products’ marketing and more access to buyers. The company has added 65,000 suppliers and more than 210,000 active products across all categories in the last year, it said.
“ECRM has been, and continues to be, the industry standard in category planning services,” RangeMe founder and CEO Nicky Jackson said. “We are excited to bring our industry-leading online sourcing technology and unprecedented growth to ECRM. Together, we are able to position ourselves as the complete and preferred end-to-end category sourcing solution in retail today and for the future.”
ECRM said that the combination of the two companies would bring RangeMe’s technology to a larger customer pool and make an impact on how the CPG industry evolves.
“We started the RangeMe journey to bring efficiency and speed to the way retailers discover products, and to provide smaller suppliers big opportunities to revolutionize the CPG industry,” Jackson said. “As part of ECRM, we are fully realizing this vision and leading the retail industry into a new age of technology-driven innovation.”
Just this year, prominent retailers have looked to RangeMe in efforts to increase their supplier diversity and grow their health and beauty selection, with
Ahold USA and
Albertsons signing deals with the company earlier this year.
“Together with RangeMe, ECRM will be better positioned to provide even more strategic value to our clients by offering incredibly effective product discovery and category planning solutions,” Farrar said. ”We look forward to welcoming the RangeMe team and working together to help shape the evolving retail industry.”
