  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy renews contract with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

    WASHINGTON — The Texas State Board of Pharmacy on Thursday awarded the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board a contract designating PTCB as the only TSBP-recognized certifying body for pharmacy technicians. The four-year agreement will take effect on Sept. 1 and replace a previous contract with PTCB due to expire on August 31.

    JERUSALEM — Teva has reached settlements with Sandoz, Actavis, Lupin and Apotex with respect to a patent for Teva’s wakefulness product, Nuvigil (armodafinil) tablets. These settlements dismiss a pending appeal with the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit of a trial court decision that found the “570 patent” to be valid and infringed.

  • Senate forum to tackle heroin, opioid addiction

    WASHINGTON — As the heroin and opioid epidemic spreads through communities across the United States, Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, will hold a forum on Wednesday to discuss opioid addiction, focusing on the use of buprenorphine to help combat opioid abuse and the obstacles that have prevented even more patients from getting buprenorphine treatment.

    GREEN BAY, Wis. – Shopko on Wednesday announced that veteran pharmacy executive Michael Cantrell has joined the company as SVP, retail health. 

    In this role, Cantrell will provide strategic direction for Shopko’s pharmacy, optical and Rx care departments. He will report to CEO Peter McMahon.

  • Reports: Sponsors get green light to circulate North Dakota pharmacy measure petition

    BISMARCK, N.D. — Sponsors of a proposed ballot measure that would repeal a 50-year-old section of state law that requires pharmacies to be majority-owned by pharmacists who are licensed in North Dakota can start circulating their petition for signatures, according to published reports.

  • NAPW names Dawn Jackman as the 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The National Association of Professional Women on Tuesday honored Dawn Jackman as the 2014 Professional Woman of the Year.

    The National Association of Professional Women is a networking community with more than 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.

    “I am constantly conveying what is allowable and isn’t allowable as per the regulations and risks involved with these decisions,” Jackman said, speaking to her responsibilities as associate director, regulatory affairs at Bayer Healthcare.
