  • CVS, YMCA partnership curbs new cases

    CVS Health in September partnered with the YMCA to help expand its Diabetes Prevention Program.

    The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a group-based lifestyle intervention for adults at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Through a 12-month, evidence-based plan, the program has been successful in reducing the number of new cases of diabetes by 58% overall and by 71% in adults older than 60 years.

    Sam’s Club last month hosted a health screening day specifically catering to the health needs of the women shopping the store with a “Support Her Health” screening offering. “Women often prioritize their families’ needs and work responsibilities over their own health and wellness, but it’s important to ensure regular health checkups don’t fall off the to-do list,” said Tara Raddohl, senior director of corporate communications at Sam’s Club.

    CARY, N.C. -- ShopRite is joining forces with prescription benefits manager Paramount Rx this November for National Diabetes Awareness Month, hosting free blood glucose screenings at select ShopRite locations.

    ShopRite’s registered dietitians will assist with glucose-level tests and share expert tips with residents to help prevent and treat the disease.
