  • Association couples government affairs and communications into 'NCPA Advocacy Center'

    ALEXANDRIA, Va.  – The National  Community Pharmacists Association on Thursday announced a number of staff appointments a realignment to bolster its already robust federal, state and media relations efforts.

  • Independent Pharmacy Cooperative and Pace Alliance to merge

    SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Independent Pharmacy Cooperative and Pace Alliance will combine their respective buying groups, effective April 1.

    Pace members will have the opportunity to become IPC members with access to all IPC programs and services, including the current IPC-McKesson supply agreement. This agreement does not alter the corporate structure, ownership, board of directors and management staff of Pace Alliance.   

  • DIR legislation introduced in the House of Representatives

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Community Pharmacists Association on Wednesday endorsed bipartisan legislation introduced by Reps. Morgan Griffith, R-Va., and Peter Welch, D-Vt., that prohibits pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration fees from being applied after the point-of-sale for prescription drugs dispensed to Medicare beneficiaries.

  • GPhA changes name to the Association for Accessible Medicines

    WASHINGTON — The Generic Pharmaceutical Association on Tuesday unveiled a new national effort to contain the cost of prescription medicines. To help accomplish this goal, the group will now be called the Association for Accessible Medicines (AAM).

  • Retail CEOs discuss Border Adjustment Tax with President Trump

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — Target CEO Brian Cornell was among eight retailers who headed to Washington Wednesday to express their disapproval of the proposed Border Adjustment Tax. The group, which also includes Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly, Gap CEO Art Peck and Autozone CEO William Rhodes, met with President Donald Trump, Kevin Brady, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee — responsible for writing taxes — and members of the U.S. Senate.

  • Acosta taps 30-year veteran for EVP, industry affairs post

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Acosta earlier this week named Tom Duffy EVP, industry affairs. Reporting directly to president and CEO Steve Matthesen, Duffy will be responsible for strengthening Acosta’s leadership at the industry level and with key trade organizations to help advance the evolution of the retail space, as well as support the ongoing growth and success of Acosta’s business.
     

  • Snead named APhA Jacob W. Miller Award winner

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rebecca Snead, RPh, was named the recipient of the 2017 American Pharmacists Association Foundation’s Jacob W. Miller Award. The award recognizes individuals who have advanced the APhA Foundation’s mission through involvement in its programs, support of its initiatives, or leadership in carrying out its mission. It was established in 2000 to honor Jacob Miller, who served as president of the APhA Foundation from 1991 to 2000.
