  • Salonpas features presidential parody in new online ad campaign

    HONOLULU — Hisamitsu America earlier this week announced the release of two videos featuring an Obama look-alike applying Salonpas to ease the aches and pains of a “presidential magnitude.”

    Hisamitsu noted it may be the first pharma company to use a parody of President Obama in its advertising, a controversial factor that should help generate a buzz around the videos.

  • Atkins kicks off 2011 marketing campaign

    DENVER — Looking to inspire weight loss among consumers, a maker of weight-management products is kicking off a new multiplatform marketing campaign.

    Centered around Atkins' free weight-loss kit — which includes the quick-start guide, chef recipe booklet, sample two-week induction meal plan, pocket carb counter with acceptable foods lists, $3 book rebate for the bestselling "The New Atkins for a New You" and three free Atkins bars — the new campaign will include advertising, online initiatives and a unique chef recipe program.

  • CVS boosts ExtraCare program with Beauty Club

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — As announced at CVS Caremark's 2010 analyst meeting in October and reported by Drug Store News, the company's retail division is extending its successful ExtraCare loyalty program by officially launching the new ExtraCare Beauty Club, the first-ever beauty club program for the retail pharmacy industry.

    CVS/pharmacy is launching the beauty club program during the People's Choice Awards 2011 on CBS at 9 p.m. EST.

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid last week sweetened the pot associated with its loyalty card.

    Rite Aid customers who use their Wellness+ card between Dec. 28, 2010, and Jan. 22 will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a dream vacation, fitness equipment, personal electronics and more as part of a new reward program created by Rite Aid called Resolution Rewards.
