  • Latest Trop50 line combines fruit juice, tea

    CHICAGO — Tropicana is expanding its Trop50 brand with a new line that combines fruit juice with tea.

    Trop50 Juice with Tea are made with fruit juices and white and green teas to deliver a great-tasting and nutritious juice beverage. The line includes Trop50 Peach with White Tea, Trop50 Raspberry with Green Tea and Trop50 Pear Lychee with White Tea. Each 8-oz. glass touts 35 to 45 calories and provide a full day's supply of vitamin C and good source of vitamin E. In addition to the new line, Trop50 also is expanding to include the new Trop50 Red Orange beverage.

  • Market Track: Drug stores promoted candy more than any other category during Easter

    NEW YORK — A new Market Track report highlighted what categories were most promoted by drug stores during this past Easter season.

    According to the new report, drug stores shifted from promoting toys and games and boosted candy promotions. Market Track said "since candy is one of the central areas of focus around the event, drug stores [were] hoping to drive traffic with the additional promotional emphasis."

  • Pfizer sells nutrition business to Nestlé

    NEW YORK — Pfizer is selling its nutrition business to Nestlé for $11.85 billion, Pfizer said Monday.

    Pfizer Nutrition, which had sales of about $2.1 billion in 2011, manufactures and markets nutrition products for children, including baby and toddler formulas, follow-on formulas and maternal and adult nutrition products.

  • Jimmy Dean introduces new breakfast bowl variety

    DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — Jimmy Dean has boosted its breakfast bowl lineup with a new addition.

    New meat lovers breakfast bowl combines Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes and cheddar cheese all into one bow and contains 25% more meat, compared with the leading breakfast bowl, the company said.

  • J. M. Smucker promotes David Lemmon

    ORRVILLE, Ohio — J. M. Smucker has promoted one of its corporate officers.

    The company said David Lemmon now would serve as VP and managing director of the company's Canada operations. Lemmon, who has been with the J. M. Smucker for 17 years, "has been instrumental in successfully implementing the company's growth strategy in Canada and helping the company achieve a leading market share position in several Canadian food and beverage categories," J. M. Smucker said.

    Lemmon's promotion is effective May 1.

  • Forgiven makes way to Duane Reade stores

    ATLANTA — Forgiven Bottling Group is bringing its alcohol metabolizer to Duane Reade stores.

    The company and its distributor, RH Labs, said Forgiven, which is designed to increase the rate at which the body processes alcohol, will be available chainwide. Additionally, the product also will be promoted on a Times Square billboard, effective June 18.
