  • 'The Colbert Report' tips hat to WAG for beer

    NEW YORK — "The Colbert Report" on Wednesday hosted a segment “Tip of the Hat; Wag of the Finger” that featured — and poked a little fun at — Walgreens’ private-label beer Big Flats 1901.

    The American lager is so named as an homage to the flat boats that traveled rivers delivering goods to early settlers.

    Walgreens' 50-cents-per-can beer is brewed by Genesee Brewery, which has been brewing Genesee beer in Rochester, N.Y., since 1878.

  • Briarpatch to debut five new I Spy games

    MILLBURN, N.J. — Briarpatch is bringing five new riddle-solving I Spy games to the market.

    New to the I Spy lineup are:

    • The two new I Spy Mini games are clip-on games that are perfect for on-the-go kids. The titles in the set are I Spy Mini Shadow Match and I Spy Mini Memory. I Spy Mini-Games are designed for ages 4 years and up, and one or more players;

  • We all scream for Iskream

    MINNEAPOLIS — A new gourmet ice cream line has made its way to the freezer aisle.

    Iskream is a line of low-fat ice creams that are naturally sweetened with Truvia, a zero-calorie sweetener. The lineup currently includes Berry Good, chocolate brownie and vanilla varieties. Each flavor has a rich, creamy texture.

    Iskream currently is available in retailers in the Northeast.

  • GumDrop pacifiers hit retail

    OAK BROOK, Ill. — RC2 Corp. on Thursday extended its The First Years brand with GumDrop pacifiers and coordinating pacifier accessories.

    Manufactured under a license from Natus Medical, GumDrop pacifiers feature the same nipple shape as the Soothie pacifier and are used by hospitals nationwide.

  • New 'Peanuts' DVD packed with two films

    HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment have brought together two beloved films based on the popular comic strip "Peanuts."

    The "Peanuts Double Feature" DVD, which arrives March 15, includes "A Boy Named Charlie Brown," the first "Peanuts" full-length feature film, and "Snoopy Come Home."

    Total running time of the DVD is approximately 166 minutes. The "Peanuts Double Feature" DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $16.99.

  • Hallmark brings voices to storybooks

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hallmark is expanding its Recordable Storybook collection by adding two classic titles to the line.

    Readers now can add their own voices to "Goodnight Moon" and "Curious You on Your Way," which join the roster of such other classic stories as "Guess How Much I Love You," "Counting Kisses" and "On the Night You Were Born."

  • Rayovac announces organizational changes

    MADISON, Wis. — Battery manufacturer Rayovac has appointed a new senior brand manager and marketing coordinator to its North American hearing-aid battery division.

    As senior brand manager, Ann Rule, a 14-year company veteran, will lead marketing efforts for the division, which produces the world’s leading auditory battery products. Jenna Johnson joins Rayovac's hearing-aid battery division as its marketing coordinator.

  • HappyFamily introduces portable snacks line

    NEW YORK — HappyFamily, an organic baby food brand, has launched a line of portable baked organic cheese, veggie and whole grain snacks.

    HappyMunchies are available in two varieties: organic cheddar cheese with carrot, and organic broccoli, kale and cheddar cheese.

    HappyMunchies have a suggested retail price of $2.99 per 1.63-oz. canister.
