  • Jack Link’s expands footprint

    NEW GLARUS, Wis. — Jack Link’s plans to purchase Unilever’s meat snacks business, primarily sold under the BiFi brand (Germany, Benelux, Austria and Switzerland) and the Peperami brand (UK and Ireland). The sale is expected to close by the end of March.

    Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, also includes the manufacturing facility in Ansbach, Germany.

  • American Licorice announces new fruit candies

    LA PORTE, Ind. — American Licorice Co. has announced the launch of Fruit Vines Bites — bite-size, chewy candies with a fruit flavor.

    "We wanted to develop a soft, chewy, fruity candy that would appeal to candy lovers everywhere," said Stephanie Louie, Red Vines brand manager. "The bite size pieces are perfect for a quick treat to help everyone bring a sweet celebration to their day."  

  • Doritos snack gets fiery flavor

    PLANO, TX — Doritos, a brand from PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division, announced an addition to its Dinamita rolled tortilla chip line. The new Doritos Dinamita Fiery Habanero chips feature spicy habanero peppers and hints of chili and red peppers, all in a rolled tortilla chip.

    The new rolled tortilla chips are now available at retailers in select locations throughout the United States and come in three sizes: a 1.125-oz. bag for a SRP of $0.50, a 4-oz. bag for a SRP of $1.49, and a 9.25-oz. bag for a SRP of $2.99.

  • Bear Naked expands flavor offerings

    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Bear Naked — a supplier of granola, trail mix and cookies — has introduced the new Honey Almond Protein flavor, which combines whole-grain oats, honey and roasted almonds and packs 10 g of protein per serving. 

  • Poll: Drug stores among favorite place to buy groceries

    NEW YORK — A recent poll of U.S. millennial, gen X and Baby Boomer consumers found that traditional retail categories are increasingly blurring, and more and more shoppers are turning to drug stores to buy groceries.

    Retail design firm King Retail Solutions conducted the fall 2013 study among more than 1,200 consumers.

  • Coke’s Dasani Sparkling hits store shelves

    ATLANTA — Coca-Cola is rolling out its Dasani Sparkling line, five naturally flavored, unsweetened and lightly carbonated waters. Dasani Sparkling is available in a 12-oz. 12-pack, and in 20-oz. and 1-liter PET PlantBottle sizes. The line marks the latest addition to the Dasani brand. Last year, the brand added flavored water enhancers, Dasani Drops.

  • Celestial Seasonings announces new line of teas

    BOULDER, Colo. — Celestial Seasonings, a Hain Celestial Group brand, announced the introduction of its new line of organic and Fair Trade Certified Estate Teas. The new teas will be available exclusively at Whole Foods Markets stores across the nation and include varieties like English Breakfast Black Tea, Earl Grey Black Tea, Pure Green Tea, Jasmine Green Tea and Perfect Trio.
