  • Maxwell House Haggadah gets makeover in time for Passover

    TARRYTOWN, N.Y. — The Maxwell House Haggadah is sprucing up its appearance.

    The Haggadah is a sacred text used during the Seder, a sacred holiday meal celebrated by Jewish families during the Passover holiday. The coffee brand noted that the English and Hebrew texts no longer are on opposing columns of the same page, but now are on opposite pages, allowing for easier and clearer reading in both languages.

    Passover is celebrating during the month of April.

  • Samuel Adams introduces variety pack of contest-winning beers

    BOSTON — Beers that were highlighted in Samuel Adams' annual homebrew contest last year now are available in a six-pack.

    The company said that the 2011 Samuel Adams LongShot American Homebrew Contest - Category 23 Variety six-pack has hit store shelves. The variety pack includes two bottles each of Richard Roper's Friar Hop Ale, Rodney Kibzey's Blackened Hops and Caitlin DeClercq's Honey B's Lavender Wheat, which all were named winners in Samuel Adams LongShot American Homebrew Contest in 2010.

  • Hain Celestial highlights new, improved product offerings

    MELVILLE, N.Y. — Hain Celestial is boosting its market presence with the introduction of more than 50 new and improved products.

    The company has expanded its baking brand, Arrowhead Mills, to include an organic sprouted wheat flour and gluten-free baking mixes to address those who suffer from celiac disease. The products also feature update packaging.

    IRVING, Texas — Hostess is going "old-school cool."

    For a limited time, the iconic snack cakes maker's treats, including chocolate cupcakes, Ding Dongs and Ho Hos, will tout retro packaging. Hostess also is bringing back the original banana Twinkie-filling recipe for a limited time.

  • Going 'Extra' lengths to personalize gum

    CHICAGO — Wrigley is letting fans of its Extra sugar-free gum brand create and purchase personalized packs featuring consumers' own photos and designs.

    Through MyExtra, which can be accessed at MyExtraGum.com, gum enthusiasts can take advantage of the custom-packaging offering with the brand's Slim Packs variety, which contains 15 sticks of Extra sugar-free gum and is available in Extra peppermint, spearmint and sweet watermelon flavors.

  • Jack Link's Beef Jerky sponsors Urban Assault Ride

    MINONG, Wis. — Jack Link’s Beef Jerky announced its sponsorship of the nation's largest bike scavenger hunt.

    The beef jerky brand said it would be the presenting sponsor of the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride, which is a bike race/obstacle course. The event is open to anyone ages 7 years or older and includes such team divisions as coed, male, female and family, with prizes awarded to the top three teams in each division.

    The 2011 Urban Assault Ride will take place in the following locations:

    • March 20 in Tucson, Ariz.;

  • GMA: Extra packaging a waste for grocery manufacturers

    WASHINGTON — Consumers can expect to find less packaging with their food and beverages in the coming years as manufacturers look to eliminate waste.

    The Grocery Manufacturers Association found that by 2020, 2.5 billion lbs. of waste is expected to be avoided. This is on top of the 1.5 billion lbs. of packaging avoided since 2005.
