  • Nehemiah Manufacturing launches Saline Soothers

    CINCINNATI - Nehemiah Manufacturing on Tuesdsay announced the launch of Saline Soothers, a solution for the 81% of consumers who are annoyed when they don't have the tissues handy to address a runny nose.

    Instead, those consumers have to resort to other means to address their runny nose - according to a survey commissioned by Nehemiah, 41% resort to using their sleeves and 38% their hand.

  • CDC recommends getting flu shot before end of October

    WASHINGTON - The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Thursday morning to advocate everyone over the age of six months get vaccinated against influenza this year, preferably by the end of October - "A vaccination deferred is a vaccination forgotten," Tom Frieden, director CDC, said.

  • Perrigo gains distribution rights to Zephrex-D and Tarex meth-blocking technology

    DUBLIN - Perrigo on Tuesday announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Highland Pharmaceuticals for its Tarex methamphetamine blocking technology and the distribution rights of Zephrex-D (pseudoephedrine HCI 30 mg).  Zephrex-D was developed using the Tarex technology and has been proven to be more than 98% effective at blocking one of the more common domestic methods of illegal meth production.

    NEW YORK — Leave it to the experts on matters of health, but on all other matters trust your spouse. That was the result of Reader's Digest second annual Trusted Brand Survey, which identified CVS Health as America's most-trusted drug store, Walmart as America's most-trusted mass merchandiser and Pharmavite's Nature Made brand as America's most-trusted nutritional supplement.

  • Flu shot now available across Wegmans

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The influenza vaccine for the 2016-2017 flu season is now available at all Wegmans Food Markets locations, the supermarket chain announced Thursday.

    “By offering the flu vaccination in our pharmacies, we’re making it easy for our customers to protect themselves from the seasonal flu, while also improving immunization rates in the communities we serve,” stated Katie Niles, Wegmans pharmacist and pharmacy clinical wellness services manager.
     

  • Consumer use of natural OTCs increases

    The use of homeopathic medicines as part of a self-care solution to treat such ailments as the common cold or back pain is becoming more and more commonplace through conventional channels. While a Harvard survey on the use of homeopathy published earlier this year in the American Journal of Public Health revealed that only 2.1% of U.S. adults have used homeopathy in the past 12 months, conventional outlets including Walmart, CVS Health and Rite Aid command 86.5% of the homeopathic dollar share, according to SPINSscan (powered by IRI).

  • P&G looking to own sinus solutions with Sinex relaunch

    CINCINNATI - Procter & Gamble on Wednesday announced the relaunch and expansion of its Sinex brand, a complete line of over-the-counter medications designed for consumers who suffer from sinus symptoms. With the relaunch, “The Clear Your Head Medicine” enters a misunderstood category to offer consumers a clear choice for their nasal congestion and pressure relief, regardless of whether symptoms are due to allergies, colds or other triggers.

  • Ricola enters immunity category

    PARSIPPANY, N.J. - Ricola on Thursday announced the release of Ricola Herbal Immunity Lozenges, formulated with ginseng, vitamins C, B6 and B12, to help support the immune system and fight fatigue.
