Dollar General is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Laura relief and recovery efforts, and accepting in-store donations through Sept. 11.
Dollar General said it will undertake a total of 2,780 real estate projects this year, including 1,000 new stores, 1,670 mature store remodels and 110 store relocations.
Dollar General reported a Q2 net sales increase of 24% to $8.7 billion from $7 billion and promoted Kathy Reardon to executive vice president and chief people officer.
Dollar General’s net income surged to $650 million, or $2.56 a share, in the quarter ended May 1, up from $385 million, or $1.48 a share, in the year-ago period.
