  • Leading hearing aid manufacturer Starkey launches complete ear care line

    MINNEAPOLIS — Starkey Hearing Technologies on Tuesday announced the availability of its new Ear Health product line, including solutions for earwax, earaches, itchy ears, dry ears and for protecting ears from damaging sounds.

    Starkey Hearing is already a well-known brand among prescription-only hearing aid products. This move creates a brand resonance for Starkey in the ear care aisle, which may see more hearing aid manufacturers enter the space as hearing aids indicated for mild to moderate hearing loss migrate into OTC sets.

  • Study finds use of homeopathic products helpful to maintaining health

    NEW YORK — Earlier this year, the Benson-Henry Institute published in the American Journal of Public Health a new survey examining the use of homeopathic medicines in the United States. The report found that homeopathy users, particularly those who also report visiting homeopathic practitioners, find the use of these products helpful, and that they tend to use a greater variety of complementary and integrative medicine modalities than do users of supplements and other complementary and integrative medicines, or CIMs.

    NEW YORK — If you go to bed every night and easily fall asleep for a refreshing eight- or nine-hour respite, you are in the minority. In fact, at least two-thirds (67%) of Americans said they have trouble falling asleep at least once a month, and nearly half (47%) reported that they experience this trouble at least once a week, according to the latest ZzzQuil survey from Procter & Gamble.

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — The Rite Aid Foundation last week launched its KidCents Mobile Flu Clinic, which will visit KidCents charities in communities served by Rite Aid to provide free flu shots to children served by the charity. Immediate family members as well as the staff and volunteers of the charity will also be able to receive free flu shots.

    COLD SPRING HARBOR, N.Y. — Earlier this year, Cirrus Healthcare Products improved upon what was already one of the leading earplugs on the market with the introduction of EP2 at a suggested retail price of about $10.

    Its predecessor, EarPlanes, generated $3 million across total U.S. multi-outlets for the 52 weeks ended July 10, according to IRI, on growth of 3.9%.
