  • Flu shot now available across Wegmans' store base

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The influenza vaccine for the 2017-2018 flu season is now available at all Wegmans Food Markets locations, the grocer announced Thursday.

    “By offering the flu vaccination in our pharmacies, we’re making it easy for our customers to protect themselves from the seasonal flu, while also improving immunization rates in the communities we serve,” stated Katie Niles, Wegmans pharmacist and pharmacy clinical wellness services manager.

  • More health bars are being sold online, according to latest 1010data report

    NEW YORK — Health bar sales online totaled $80 million for the first seven months of 2017, according to a new report released earlier this week from 1010data, marking a 60% year-over-year increase.

    Quest Nutrition bars are the most popular online, with a marketshare of 25%, followed by RxBar (14%) and ThinkThin (6%). RxBar, however, is the fastest-growing bar sold online, realizing a growth rate of 398%.

  • IRI arms cough/cold retailers with new tool to boost performance

    CHICAGO — IRI earlier this week launched IRI Illness Tracking, a new solution that pinpoints consumers who suffer from cough, cold, influenza and allergy symptoms throughout the year, so that over-the-counter product marketers and retailers can grow sales during the flu season through better planning and activation programs.

  • Sanofi gets tentative FDA approval for Humalog follow-on Admelog

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration recently granted tentative approval to Sanofi’s Admelog (insulin lispro injection, 100 units/ml), a rapid-acting human insulin analog. The drug, a follow-on biologic version of Lilly’s Humalog, is indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes. 
     
    The approval means that Admelog has met all requirements for the regulatory agency, pending any patent issues that have not yet been resolved. 
     
  • Target cuts prices ahead of holiday selling season

    MINNEAPOLIS — rThe price wars among the nation's leading retailers has taken a new turn just ahead of the critical holiday selling season.

    On Friday, Target revealed in a blog post on its website that it had lowered prices on "thousands" of items, from cereal and paper towels to baby formula, razors, bath tissue and more. The discounter said the move would help end shoppers' uncertainty over the timing of discounts on certain products, and make for "more consistent savings."

  • Pharmaca to make its Chicagoland debut

    BOULDER, Colo. — Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy on Wednesday announced its expansion into the Chicagoland market with the acquisition of Aaron's Apothecary on Clark st. in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

    Pharmaca also announced the acquisition of Roxbury Pharmacy in Beverly Hills, Calif.
