  • CDC: Five weeks into season, flu incidence back on the rise

    ATLANTA  — After a one-week decline in incidence, influenza activity climbed back to 3.3%, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday, where 3.3% of patient visits reported through the U.S. Outpatient Influenza-like Illness Surveillance Network were due to influenza-like illness. The increase in the percentage of patient visits for ILI may be influenced in part by a reduction in routine healthcare visits during the holidays, the CDC suggested, as has occurred in previous seasons.

    This percentage is above the national baseline of 2.2%.

    AMERICAN FORK, Utah — KT Tape on Tuesday signed Olympic skier Julia Mancuso as an athlete ambassador. The most decorated American woman in Olympic alpine skiing, Mancuso has utilized KT Tape as she recovers from surgery and will continue use in her return to competition later this week.

  • J&J exploring strategic options for LifeScan unit

    NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.  — Johnson and Johnson on Tuesday announced it will be evaluating "potential strategic options" for its LifeScan diabetes business, as well as other J&J diabetes banners including Animas Corp. and Calibra Medical.

    The news was announced in conjunction with the company's fourth quarter earnings call, and is part of the company's ongoing portfolio management.

  • L2G North America launches nitric oxide supplement

    CHICAGO – L2G North America on Friday announced that its new Berkeley Life Heart Health supplement – formulated based on research that shows the pivotal role of nitric oxide in cardiovascular health – will arrive at retailers nationwide beginning in January 2017.

    Berkeley Life Heart Health will be available over the counter exclusively at The Vitamin Shoppe and GNC in January and shortly thereafter at other retailers nationwide.
