  • JAMA: Overall supplement use stable, though use of multivitamins down

    CHICAGO - Supplement use among U.S. adults remained stable from 1999-2012, with more than half of adults reporting use of supplements, while use of multivitamins decreased during this time period, according to a study appearing in the Oct. 11 issue of JAMA.

    Overall, the use of supplements remained stable between 1999 and 2012, with 52%of U.S. adults reporting use of any supplements in 2011-2012. Use of MVMM decreased, with 37% reporting use in 1999-2000 and 31% reporting use in 2011-2012.

  • CADCA names CHPA CEO 'Humanitarian of the Year'

    WASHINGTON – The Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America honored Scott Melville, president and CEO for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, at its 18th annual Drug-Free Kids Campaign Awards Dinner held here last week.

    CADCA named Melville its Humanitarian of the Year for his commitment to addressing the complex issues of medicine abuse and misuse and for CHPA’s 10 years of outstanding partnership with CADCA.

  • HDA Research Foundation names new COO

    ARLINGTON, Va. – The HDA Research Foundation (formerly the Center for Healthcare Supply Chain Research) on Thursday named Perry Fri its new COO. He assumes leadership of the Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization of the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA, formerly HDMA), from Karen Ribler, who retired at the end of September.

  • Safeway to open weight loss clinics in 5 Bay Area stores

    SAN FRANCISCO — Weight loss clinics will soon be coming to several Bay Area Safeway stores. Safeway, alongside Costa Mesa, Calif.-based weight loss clinic chain Lean for Life By Lindora Clinic, announced Friday that Lean for Life by Lindora Clinics will be opening on Oct. 10 at five Safeway stores in Danville, Dublin, Livermore, Menlo Park and San Jose.
