  • FDA declines to approve Takeda diabetes drug

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — The Food and Drug Administration declined to approve a drug made by Takeda Pharmaceutical, the drug maker said.

    Takeda announced that the FDA issued a complete response letter for its regulatory applications for the Type 2 diabetes drug alogliptin and a combination pill that includes alogliptin and pioglitazone, the active ingredient in the drug Actos.

  • Abbott boosts EAS brand with new products for athletes

    ABBOTT PARK, Ill. — Abbott on Wednesday announced that its EAS sports nutrition brand has launched a new line of performance nutrition products.

    The lineup includes EAS Recovery protein powder, EAS Lean 15 protein powder, EAS Myoplex original with Revigor and EAS Myoplex 30 bars. All of the products are designed to rapidly deliver needed nutrients to fatigued muscles and help athletes recover and build muscle, the company said.
