KROGER

CINCINNATI — Kroger on Tuesday announced the retirement of Mid-Atlantic division president Joe Fey, and that Jerry Clontz will succeed him. Clontz currently serves as SVP operations of Harris Teeter.

Fey will retire from the company after 44 years of service, effective Feb. 10, while Clontz will serve as president of the company's Mid-Atlantic division, effective Feb. 1.

CINCINNATI — Kroger on Monday announced that its family of stores is hiring to fill an estimated 10,000 permanent positions in its supermarket divisions.

"Kroger's growth trajectory continues to create opportunities for our people to advance their careers," stated Tim Massa, Kroger's group VP human resources and labor relations. "Kroger is a place where you can come for a job and stay for a career," he added, noting that about 70% of Kroger's store managers started as part-time clerks.

WASHINGTON – The National Confectioners Association on Monday announced that Christina Groth from Kroger and Brian Rinker from Walgreens are the recipients of the 2017 Confectionery Leadership Awards. The award celebrates the honorees’ contributions to the category through their effective business collaboration, category management best practices, and innovations in merchandising confectionery products in-store.

CINCINNATI — Kroger on Tuesday named Matt Perin head of government relations and regulatory affairs.

"Matt's involvement and relationships with leaders in Washington will help advance our federal and state lobbying efforts and elevate Kroger's unique story among these influential stakeholders," stated Dailey, Kroger's senior director of external affairs. "We look forward to having Matt's expertise on the ground in Washington."

CINCINNATI  — Kroger on Thursday elected International Paper chairman and CEO Mark Sutton to its board.

"We are delighted to welcome Mark to Kroger," stated Rodney McMullen, Kroger's chairman and CEO. "Mark's deep experience in an end-to-end business and global perspective make him a valued addition to Kroger's board of directors."

CINCINNATI -- Kroger on Tuesday announced that as a result of its one-day Honoring our Heroes hiring event held Nov. 9, the company hired more than 4,000 military veterans and their family members.

"I'm so proud of our store teams for their outstanding efforts during our national hiring event in November," stated Tim Massa, Kroger's group VP human resources and labor relations. "We can all be proud of hiring 4,000 veterans and family members in one day. We are delighted to welcome them to our Kroger family."

CINCINNATI -- The chief commercial officer and chief information officer of 84.51°, a customer engagement firm and subsidiary of Kroger, will succeed Kevin Dougherty, Kroger group VP and chief digital officer following his retirement Jan. 27, the retailer announced Tuesday.
