CASTRES, France and PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Pierre Fabre Dermatologies announced that it received authorization from the Food and Drug Administration to market the pediatric drug Hemangeol (propranolol hydrochloride).

It is the first and only approved treatment for “proliferating infantile hemangioma requiring systemic therapy," the company said. Infantile hemangioma is a vascular benign tumor that affects 3% to 10% of newborns.

HOUSTON — As part of research funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, a recent study found that Google Flu Trend may not be all it's cracked up to be. The study, published in the journal Science, also suggested that aggregated big data tools may have their faults.

LOS ANGELES — The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, a coffee and tea retailer, announced the introduction of four coffee varieties for the Keurig K-Cup Brewing System. The new offerings highlight some of the company's most popular selections, as well as new blends that were created specifically for the Keurig system.

WASHINGTON — The Federal Trade Commission is holding a public workshop in March to examine U.S. healthcare competition issues as healthcare spending swallows up a significant part of federal and state budgets. Among the topics up for discussion, according to reports, are retail clinics and telemedicine.

According to reports, the two-day workshop will be held March 20 and 21 in Washington, D.C. and will be webcast on the FTC’s site.

HYANNIS, Mass. — Cape Cod Potato Chips, a brand from Snyder’s-Lance, announced new Cape Cod Popcorn in Sea Salt and Kettle Corn varieties. The brand also is reviving its previously retired White Cheddar flavor. The new additions are ideal for consumers looking for a health-conscious alternative, the company said.

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — Yankee Candle Co. announced the launch of the limited-edition Peeps Marshmallow Chicks candle. The new scent takes inspiration from the colorful Peeps spring candy.

WATERBURY, Vt. & EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Keurig Green Mountain, recognized for its beverages and Keurig brewing systems, and Peet's Coffee & Tea, a specialty coffee and tea company, announced a manufacturing and distribution agreement. The companies plan to launch a selection of Keurig-licensed Peet's coffee and tea varieties in K-Cup packs by the end of the summer. Financial terms were not disclosed. Peet's will continue to roast the beans for its K-Cup packs at its LEED-certified facility in Alameda, Calif.; the roasted beans will be transported to Keurig for grinding and packaging.
