    WASHINGTON — As the interest in telemedicine programs continues to grow, a recent Rand study found that people who are younger, more affluent and do not have established healthcare relationships are more likely to use a telemedicine program that allows patients to get medical help for acute ailments — including prescriptions — by talking to a doctor over the telephone.

  • Sandoz launches generic Hectorol

    PRINCETON, N.J. — Sandoz announced the launch of doxercalciferol injection vials, the first generic version of Genzyme’s Hectorol. Doxercalciferol injection vials are used for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis.

    “Sandoz is pleased to be the first company to market a high quality, affordable generic version of this important product to dialysis patients in the US,” Peter Goldschmidt, President of Sandoz, said.

    CHICAGO — Higi on Tuesday announced an agreement with Rite Aid to become the sole provider of health stations in stores nationwide. The company will deploy approximately 4,100 higi Stations across the United States beginning in the second quarter of 2014 and projects completion of the rollout by early 2015.
