  • Second season of 'Mysteries at the Museum' debuts on DVD

    NEW YORK — Gaiam announced the release of "Mysteries at the Museum Season 2" on DVD under its exclusive home video license agreement with the Travel Channel.

    Hosted by Don Wildman, the second season of the show takes viewers behind the scene of the institutions' everyday exhibits and investigates corners and backrooms filled with stories and secrets yet to be revealed.

    The two-disc DVD set has a run time of 430 minutes and a suggested retail price of $19.98.

  • FDA approves OTC HIV test

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved over-the-counter sales of a test for the virus that causes AIDS, the agency said Tuesday.

    The FDA announced the approval of the OraQuick In-Home HIV Test, calling it the first OTC, self-administered HIV test kit that detects the presence of antibodies to HIV, including the HIV-1 and HIV-2 strains.

  • Mylan launches generic bipolar disorder, allergy treatments

    PITTSBURGH — Mylan has launched generic versions of two drugs to treat bipolar disorder and allergies, the company said Tuesday.

    Mylan announced the launch of lithium carbonate extended-release tablets in the 300-mg strength. The drug is a generic version of Noven Therapeutics' Lithobid, various versions of which had sales of about $21 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.

  • FDA approves Lupin contraceptive

    BALTIMORE — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic contraceptive drug made by Lupin Pharmaceuticals, the company said Tuesday.

    Lupin announced the approval of norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol tablets in the 0.18/0.025-mg, 0.215/0.025-mg and 0.25/0.025-mg strengths.

    The drug is a generic version of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, made by Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceuticals. The branded version of the drug had sales of about $421 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.

  • Stonyfield adds two new flavors to frozen Greek yogurt lineup

    LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Stonyfield has bolstered its line of organic Oikos frozen Greek yogurt.

    Stonyfield said its lineup has expanded to include peach mango and superfruits flavors, which tout zero fat and 100 calories per serving The two flavors join a lineup that includes chocolate, vanilla, honey and blueberry. The frozen Greek yogurt is available at stores nationwide.

  • British firm launches shaving line for 'real American men'

    LONDON — British firm Dreadnought has launched a beard-reducing shaving line exclusively for American men.

    Dreadnought launched in America on June 12 with a preshave oil, shaving cream, post-shave balm, travel sized “Avenger” shaving brush, “Spartan” double edge safety razor and silver technology antiperspirant deodorant. The brand’s tagline: “The Ultimate Shaving Experience For Real American Men.”

    LOS ANGELES — "Marvel's The Avengers" is coming to Blu-ray, DVD, digital and on-demand platforms on Sept. 25.

  • Dr. Reddy's launches generic Boniva

    HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy's has launched a drug designed to prevent and treat osteoporosis.

    The generic drug maker launched ibandronate sodium tablets in the 150-mg strength, following approval by the Food and Drug Administration for the drug maker's abbreviated new drug application. The drug is a generic version of Boniva.

    The branded drug and generic versions had U.S. sales of approximately $486 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health.
