  • Mexican athlete's foot brand making its way across the border to U.S. Hispanic markets

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — MarcasUSA on Thursday announced the U.S. debut of Conazol, a leading over-the-counter athlete's foot treatment in Mexico.

    The brand is expanding its U.S. distribution and can be found at such retailers as Walmart and Target in key U.S. Hispanic markets, such as Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Chicago, the company said.

  • Actavis launches generic hypertension, chest pain drug

    MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Actavis has launched a generic drug for high blood pressure and chest pain, the company said.

    Actavis, which recently agreed to an acquisition by Watson Pharmaceuticals, announced the launch of nifedipine extended-release tablets in the 90-mg strength, a generic version of Bayer's Adalat CC.

    Various versions of the drug had sales of about $23 million in 2011, according to IMS Health.

    LOS ANGELES — The Wonderful brand has expanded beyond pistachios.

    New Wonderful Almonds, available in roasted and salted, roasted no salt and natural raw varieties, are nutrient-dense, California-grown nuts, parent company Paramount Farms said.

  • FDA approves Ranbaxy acne drug

    PRINCETON, N.J. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a branded acne drug made by Ranbaxy Labs, the drug maker said.

    Ranbaxy announced the FDA approval of Absorica (isotretinoin), a drug for treating severe recalcitrant nodular acne. The company expects to launch Absorica in the United States in fourth quarter 2012 under an agreement with Canada-based Cipher Pharmaceuticals.

  • Nicole by OPI to launch five new fall shades exclusively at Target

    NEW YORK — Nicole by OPI is launching new fall shades of nail lacquer exclusively at Target this fall.

    “Nicole by OPI is excited to bring the fashion-forward Target guest new lacquers for the fall season,” stated Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI EVP and artistic director. “Not only do the shades add the final touch to runway trends, the shimmery finish [also] adds elegance and depth to these trendy colors.”

    The richly pigmented formulas come in shimmering shades of deep blue, gold, purple, mauve and green.

    FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Jelly Belly is set to launch a new line of candy dishes.

    Jelly Belly pie candy dishes are made of ceramic and have a classic lattice-patterned crust lid with a Jelly Belly jelly bean "fruit-filling"” peeking out from under it. Each Jelly Belly pie candy dish comes with a 2-oz. starter bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans in the dish's corresponding flavor. The dish itself can hold up to 4 oz. of Jelly Belly beans, so it can be refilled with favorite flavors.

  • Crosslin promoted to president of PDX/National Health Systems

    FORT WORTH, Texas — National Health Systems announced the promotion of SVP product strategy and design Brad Crosslin to the role of president.

    In his new role, Crosslin immediately will focus on streamlining the day-to-day operations of the company to ensure that all products and services are aligned with key business and industry strategies. The company said Crosslin was promoted "in recognition of his contributions and experience throughout the company and in support of the company's rapidly expanding customer base and suite of products and services."
