Omosilk’s focus remains on healthy hair, skin
Omosilk is changing the way consumers approach their hair and skin care.
Created by Dr. Omonye Phillips, the former vice president of operations at Rite Aid, the brand’s products consist of a range of beauty sleep and scalp care essentials that have been designed with a science-backed and nutrient-infused approach to silk.
Inside Beauty spoke to Dr. Phillips to learn more about the brand’s origins, which she says, “started from a deeply personal place.”
“When my children experienced severe hair loss triggered by eczema, I was heartbroken. As a pharmacist, I understood the effects of steroids—especially on little ones—and I wanted a gentler, more natural way to ease their discomfort. That search led me to 100% Mulberry silk, a fabric naturally rich in proteins, hypoallergenic and soothing for sensitive skin and delicate hair,” said Dr. Phillips.
Since its inception, Omosilk has focused on creating an assortment of silk products for all ages and hair types. The brand’s current SKUs include pillowcases, bonnets, headbands, scrunchies and crib sleeves.

According to the brand, to create its products, Omosilk utilizes 100% hypoallergenic mulberry silk that is infused with proteins and essential minerals, including magnesium and zinc, to help support healthy hair growth and soothe sensitive skin conditions.
“At Omosilk, we’re all about natural and clean beauty, which is why we use only 100% Mulberry silk—the highest quality silk available. Here’s why it makes all the difference for your hair,” said Dr. Phillips. “It prevents breakage and dryness—ideal for curly, textured or delicate hair. No static, no oil absorption—unlike synthetic satin, silk won’t strip your hair of its natural oils or cause frizz.”
Overall, Omosilk is steering its efforts to help consumers achieve their best hair during the sleep process, which is when the body begins to repair its cellular function and tissue regeneration.
“Many unknowingly sabotage this process by sleeping on rough or absorbent fabrics like cotton, which strip natural oils, create friction, and contribute to breakage and thinning over time,” said Dr. Phillips. “Dermatologists have long praised silk for reducing friction, preserving hydration and even preventing sleep lines.”
Continuing to build upon this category is in the works for the brand, who shared plans to roll out an array of new products in the future.

“We have plans to expand into new categories, including luxe silk loungewear, full bedding collections with silk sheets, and a more robust baby line. One of our most thoughtful additions will be silk baby mittens—created so that when babies instinctively reach to scratch, they’re actually rubbing against soft, soothing silk instead of irritating their delicate skin,” said Dr. Phillips.
There are also plans for some exciting new surprises. “While we can’t spill all the silk secrets just yet, let’s just say we’ve been dreaming up some beautiful new additions that our community is going to love. Stay tuned—we promise it’ll be worth the wait!” noted Dr. Phillips.
