  • Kerr Drug completes chainwide implementation of PDX pharmacy system

    RALEIGH, N.C. — Kerr Drug has rolled out the PDX Enterprise Pharmacy System chainwide, the retail pharmacy chain said.

    Kerr said the system would help it focus on "the future of pharmacy," with increased prescription volume and higher patient care requirements.

  • Reports: Google Flu Trends may have overestimated epidemic

    NEW YORK — Google seems to have found a nifty niche for itself with Google Flu Trends, which seeks to track the influenza outbreak by monitoring Web searches for flu-related topics, but its accuracy may be in doubt, according to published reports.

    Nature reported that a comparison between data from Google Flu Trends and official surveillance data found that the Google tool had overestimated peak flu levels. Nevertheless, according to Nature, the problem is minor, and the Internet services giant will probably be able to fix it.

  • ScriptPro wins top spot in KLAS rankings

    MISSION, Kan. — Pharmacy automation system manufacturer ScriptPro has received a top spot from a research firm that specializes in monitoring and reporting on the performance of healthcare vendors.

    ScriptPro said the healthcare IT research firm KLAS ranked its SP Central Pharamcy Management System No. 1 in the category of Software Solutions – Pharmacy – Outpatient (Retail) in the "2012 Best in KLAS Award: Software & Services."

  • Bartell Drugs introduces PharmaSmart kiosks

    SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs has introduced PharmaSmart blood-pressure testing kiosks at all 58 of its stores, the regional retail pharmacy chain said Monday.

    Bartell said it was the first drug store chain in the Pacific Northwest to provide the new kiosks, made by Rochester, N.Y.-based PharmaSmart International.

  • Innovation appoints Stephen Donohue as regional VP sales, chain, high-volume

    JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. — Pharmacy automation system manufacturer Innovation has appointed Stephen Donohue as divisional VP sales, chain and high volume, the company said Thursday.

    Innovation, which makes the PharmASSIST automation system, said Donohue would lead all the company's sales and marketing activity for the retail chain, mail order and central fill markets.
