    ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A company that makes health kiosks has joined a campaign to promote blood pressure management among patients with hypertension.

  • Kerr rolls out new pharmacy app

    RALEIGH, N.C. — Kerr Drug has broadened its services with a new mobile pharmacy application.

    Powered by mscripts, the solution enables Kerr Drug customers to refill prescriptions, and receive pickup and dosage reminders through the convenience of their mobile phones. Smartphone users can access the store locator, weekly specials and do a quick refill by scanning the QR code on prescription bottles. A text messaging option for non-smartphone users enables patients to receive many of the same benefits.

  • Kirby Lester to introduce updated tablet counter

    LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Pharmacy automation manufacturer Kirby Lester has launched a version of one of its tablet counters with streamlined verification software.

    The company announced the launch of KL1Plus, which it said combines the KL1 tablet counter with the updated software. The device will be introduced at the National Community Pharmacists Association and Department of Defense Joint Forces Pharmacy Services annual convention in San Diego this month.

  • Allscripts sponsors EHR app-development contest

    CHICAGO — Electronic health records company Allscripts is sponsoring a drive to develop applications that work with the company's Open Electronic Health Records software in order to make it easier for providers to add new apps to their workflow and improve patient outcomes.

  • At the higher end of the e-prescribing curve

    According to Surescripts, almost 400,000 physicians — about 58% of all office-based doctors — were e-prescribing at the end of 2011. The net effect: About 36% of all prescriptions were sent electronically in 2011.

    ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — ValueCentric and the American Pharmacy Alliance have entered a collaboration, which will connect pharmaceutical manufacturers with independent pharmacy data.

  • RxMedic, HBS sign automated dispensing, software agreement

    RALEIGH, N.C. — A pharmacy automation equipment manufacturer has signed a deal with a company that makes pharmacy software.

    RxMedic Systems and Health Business Systems announced Tuesday that they had signed a preferred business partner agreement. The deal will allow users of HBS' RxAxis pharmacy software system to connect with RxMedic's dispensing technology, including its ADS robot, the companies said, allowing pharmacies to be more accurate, productive and profitable.
