    MINNEAPOLIS — A nonprofit healthcare education organization and a for-profit company that uses healthcare education technology to promote best practices in medicine are developing educational programs to improve chronic disease care.

  • TeleManager product allows refills through Facebook

    NEWARK, N.J. — A company that develops cloud-based pharmacy automation and communications products has released a way for patients to refill their prescriptions on Facebook.

    TeleManager announced the release of iRefill Facebook, the newest component of its iRefill Connect suite of products. Other components include iRefill Mobile, which allows two-way communication between patients and their pharmacists.

    NEW YORK — Philosys is seeking regulatory approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its blood-glucose monitoring system.

    Gmate Smart, which the company calls "the smallest and most innovative meter in the world," is a blood-glucose meter that works with the headphone connector of the iPhone, iPad and iPod.

    ATLANTA — SoloHealth on Friday announced a new relationship with WellPoint to help provide consumers with convenient access to information about their health and wellness through the next-generation SoloHealth Station consumer kiosks.

    The news comes on the heels of SoloHealth's recent FDA approval in June, as well as its announcement of an aggressive rollout to retail locations nationwide to begin this fall.

    REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Big Doctor is watching you — to make sure you're taking your drugs as prescribed, that is.

    It's not dystopian, but it sure sounds like the stuff of science fiction: The Food and Drug Administration approved Monday a tiny, ingestible sensor that can be integrated into drugs to monitor patients' prescription drug adherence.

  • QS/1 finishes 2012 Customer Conference

    ORLANDO, Fla. — Customers, vendors and industry analysts were among the more than 300 people who took part in seminars to showcase pharmacy technology maker QS/1's line of software products for independent and small-chain pharmacies and home medical equipment providers.

    Calling its 2012 Customer Conference a "success," QS/1 said its next conference would take place in Asheville, N.C., in May 2013 rather than July 2013.
