  • CVS Health survey: 61% plan to get flu shot every year

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Coinciding with the availability of flu shots at CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations, CVS Health on Wednesday released data from its survey of Americans about flu prevention. The survey found that 61% plan to get a flu vaccine every year or this year, an increase of 2% from last year’s survey findings. And 67% say getting a flu shot is the best way to prevent against the fly. 
     
  • CVS Health, Cigna unveil Cigna Health Works collaboration

    BLOOMFIELD, Conn. and WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health and Cigna on Thursday announced a new collaboration aimed at revamping the experience of patients on Cigna employer-sponsored health plans. Cigna Health Works will align Cigna-administered health benefits with CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic services to create a personalized health-and-wellness program for Cigna-covered patients in select markets, the companies said.

    SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs has added to its roster of CareClinic by Kaiser Permanente locations with its latest at the Redmond Town Center. The opening comes less than a month after the chain opened its 14th CareClinic amid a flurry of store openings.

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health’s MinuteClinic has opened five new locations three of New York City’s five boroughs. Two of the new clinics are in Brooklyn, two are in Manhattan and one is located in Queens. All are located inside of CVS Pharmacy locations.

  • Survey: Most nurse practitioners help decode medical info for their patients

    KENILWORTH, N.J. — Nurse practitioners play a crucial role in helping patients decode medical information, according to the findings of a recent Merck Manuals survey. The survey of 210 NPs, conducted at a recent medical conference, revealed that most (88%) believe they spend at least half of appointment times educating patients on diagnoses, treatments and prescriptions.

  • Walgreens Boots Alliance partners with KKR on PharMerica acquisition, settles with Theranos

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens Boots Alliance has had a busy week.

    As a minority investor, the company on Wednesday announced that it had formed a new company with KKR, through which the two acquired institutional pharmacy company PharMerica. The all-cash transaction is valued at roughly $1.4 billion and will make PharMerica a private company.

  • Bartell Drugs opens 14th CareClinic amid flurry of store openings

    SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs opened another CareClinic by Kaiser Permanente to its roster on Monday. The new clinic, located at the company’s newest store in Snoqualmie ridge, will be open seven days a week.

    “Patients come to our CareClinics for quality and convenient care,” Kaiser Permanente clinician and CareClinic chief Michael Erickson said. “We’ve proven that CareClinics live up to the promise of quickly diagnosing and treating common ailments.
