  • Walgreens, Aurora Health Care to partner on 8 retail clinics

    DEERFIELD, Ill. – Walgreens and Aurora Health Care on Tuesday announced that Aurora Health Care will own and operate, and provide all clinical services at, eight retail health clinics to be located within Walgreens stores across eastern Wisconsin.

  • Kentucky's leading Medicaid plan adds The Little Clinic to network

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Passport Health Plan has added The Little Clinic inside select Kroger stores around Kentucky to its growing network of accepted healthcare providers, effective Jan. 1, 2017, the companies announced Thursday.

    “We are very excited to add The Little Clinic to our network of healthcare providers around the Commonwealth,” stated Mark Carter, CEO of Passport Health Plan. “Opening access to these additional services will allow our members to get the care and treatment that they need to live healthier lives.”

  • New Knowhen Advanced Ovulation Test IDs patient’s 5 most fertile days

    NEWARK, N.J. — The new saliva-based Knowhen Advanced Ovulation Test is looking to help patients predict the likelihood of becoming pregnant on a given day. The test is a daily monitoring method that features a reusable mini-ovulation microscope to monitor the gradual increase of estrogen in saliva to identify the five most fertile days in the ovulation cycle. 
     

  • Boehringer Ingelheim, Lilly launch campaign on Type 2 diabetes, heart disease link

    RIDGEFIELD, Conn. and INDIANAPOLIS — Boehringer Ingelheim and Eli Lilly & Co. have launched an educational campaign to help raise awareness of the link between heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. The “For Your SweeHeart: Where diabetes and heart disease meet” campaign launch follows a survey by the two companies that found three-in-four Americans and two-in-three people with Type 2 diabetes don’t know that heart disease is the No. 1 health-related killer of Type 2 diabetes patients. 
     

  • Sanofi’s Soliqua 100/33 for Type 2 diabetes gets FDA nod

    SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved Sanofi’s Soliqua 100/33 (insulin glargine 100 units/mL and lixisenatide 33mcg/mL), the company announced Monday. The drug is indicated to treat adults with Type 2 diabetes that’s inadequately controlled on basal insulin or lixisenatide. 
     

  • Quest Diagnostics brings patient-initiated screenings to Colo., Mo.

    MADISON, N.J. — Quest Diagnostics on Monday expanded ts new patient-initiated testing services to Colorado and Missouri, allowing patients to order lab tests without a physician’s order. Among the tests available are lipid panels, STI and HIV screenings and diabetes risk and management panels. 
     

  • Largest single-day health screening event Walmart Wellness Day a 'huge success'

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart Wellness Day, the largest single-day health screening in the nation, was another huge success the company shared with Drug Store News.

    Nearly 250,000 free health screenings were conducted and 52,000 immunizations were administered in more than 4,600 Walmart stores last month.

  • Albertsons donates 5K flu vaccines to vets, homeless

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons Co. recently announced its donation of 5,000 flu vaccines to 21 non-profits that serve veterans, low-income communities and people and families that are homeless. The donation saw Albertsons providing staff pharmacists to administer on-site vaccines through mobile vaccine clinics.
