  • Walmart’s Google Home shopping partnership goes live

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has officially gone live with voice shopping on the Google Home platform.

    As announced in August, the discounter is partnering with Google to allow its customers to shop for Walmart items through voice via Google Assistant, the search giant's online shopping platform that lives on its smart speaker. On Wednesday, the partnership went live, with more than 2 million Walmart items available through voice.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — As part of American Pharmacists Month throughout October, Walgreens is recognizing its more than 27,000 pharmacists for their dedication to patient care, and the growing and important role they continue to play in health care today.

  • CVS Pharmacy debuts ScriptPath Prescription Schedule

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Pharmacy’s latest initiative is making medication management easier for patients with multiple prescriptions. The company has debuted the ScriptPath Prescription Schedule, which shows all of a patient’s current prescription information in one place. The schedule features easy-to-understand icons that indicated when a patient should take a medication and how much should be taken in each dose.

  • Walgreens adds almost 1,000 medication disposal kiosks into stores

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Healthcare organizations AmerisourceBergen, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Pfizer and Prime Therapeutics on Tuesday joined Walgreens to combat the national opioid abuse crisis by expanding the availability of safe medication disposal kiosks to an additional 900 Walgreens stores near military bases and other areas where the opioid epidemic has challenged communities.

    When the expansion is complete, kiosks will be available in approximately 1,500 Walgreens stores nationwide.

  • McKesson Canada names new president of payer markets

    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — McKesson Canada on Tuesday announced the appointment of Dianne Carmichael as president payer markets and head of corporate strategy and business development, effective immediately. Reporting to Domenic Pilla, McKesson Canada’s CEO, Carmichael will be responsible for developing and executing on McKesson Canada’s payor market strategy, and identifying how to create and deliver value to patients, providers and insurers.

  • More retailers step in with Puerto Rico relief contributions

    CAMP HILL, Pa. — As Puerto Rico continues to recover from the impact of Hurricane Maria, retailers are continuing to step in with resources to help the island get back on its feet — with all three of the biggest retail pharmacy chains stepping in. 

    The Rite Aid Foundation announced Tuesday a $150,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help the victims, families and communities in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricane Maria.
