  • H-E-B helps establish CAST Tech, the first of a network of industry‑led, career‑themed high schools

    SAN ANTONIO  – H‑E‑B and Charles Butt on Friday announced their partnership to create a network of industry‑led, career‑themed high schools known collectively as the Centers for Applied Science and Technology, which H‑E‑B and other key employers plan to establish across San Antonio in partnership with local school districts.

  • Wegmans Brooklyn debut moving along

    NEW YORK - Progress is being made on the debut of Wegmans in the New York City market, The Real Deal reported last week.

    According to the report, Steiner NYC, the developer behind the Navy Yard’s Steiner Studios, filed plans for the building with an address of 21 Flushing Avenue, according to an application recorded with the Department of Buildings.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens recently announced that it has implemented two programs in Washington and Oklahoma to combat drug abuse, part of a comprehensive national plan to address key contributors to the crisis.


    Walgreens has installed safe medication disposal kiosks in Walgreens locations across both states. The safe medication disposal kiosks make the disposal of medications easier while helping to reduce the misuse of medications and the rise in overdose deaths.

    PHILADELPHIA - The availability of influenza vaccinations at the neighborhood pharmacy has boosted vaccination rates among millennials, according to research recently published in the American Journal of Public Health.

    The authors found that increased adoption rates followed states allowing pharmacists to administer the vaccine.

  • Walmart forms strategic alliance with China’s largest e-commerce company

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Walmart and JD.com, China’s largest e-commerce company by revenue, on Monday announced that they have formed a strategic alliance to better serve consumers across China through a combination of e-commerce and retail.

    For Walmart, the alliance greatly expands its opportunity in China e-commerce and provides its stores and Sam’s Clubs with potential traffic from JD.com’s significant base of online customers and same-day delivery network to serve its customers.

  • Shopko rolling out higi stations across 376 stores

    CHICAGO -- Higi is accelerating the pace of its expansion plans with the addition of Shopko as the latest retailer planning to install higi stations at its stores.

    The agreement between higi and Shopko will allow shoppers and employees to monitor and track their biometric health information and share their data with trusted health partners.
