  • Supervalu adds chief innovation officer to c-suite, among other changes

    MINNEAPOLIS - Supervalu on Tuesday announced that veteran wholesale executive James Weidenheimer, 57, has been named to the newly-created position of EVP corporate development and chief innovation officer, reporting to Supervalu president and CEO Mark Gross. Weidenheimer joins the company after having spent the last 16 years in senior leadership positions with C&S Wholesale Grocers. He is expected to start in his new role by April 25, 2016.

    ATLANTA -- Walmart has joined the network of retailers accepting InComm Healthcare & Affinity's (IHA) Enhanced Payment Platform.

    Effective immediately, members of more than 90 health plans with cards issued by IHA can participate in health plan-sponsored wellness programs and receive benefits at Walmart locations nationwide.

  • WSJ: Theranos under criminal investigation

    Federal prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation into whether Theranos misled investors about the state of its technology and operations, according to The Wall Street Journal. Walgreens Boots Alliance and the New York State Department of Health have received subpoenas in recent weeks seeking documents and testimony about representations made to them by the Palo Alto, Calif., blood-testing company, the newspaper said.

  • Aquafina unveils new line of flavored sparkling water

    PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Leading bottled water brand Aquafina is expanding its product line to bring consumers a light and naturally sweetened hydration option.

    The brand has unveiled Aquafina Sparkling in three fruit flavors: Black Cherry Dragonfruit, Lemon Lime and Orange Grapefruit. Each single-serve, 12-ounce can contains just 10 calories and the tiniest pinch of Fair Trade Certified sugar for a smooth, crisp finish. Aquafina Sparkling will also be available in a multipack containing two flavors.

  • Rite Aid names winners of 12th Annual Favorite Pharmacy Team Member contest

    CAMP HILL, Pa. -- Rite Aid is recognizing the winners of its 2015 Vote for Your Favorite Pharmacy Team Member Contest.

    Sharon Balser, a Rite Aid pharmacy technician from Milford, Mich., and Theresa Forrest, a loyal Rite Aid customer from Gwynn Oak, Md., were both selected at random from more than 11,000 unique entries. The contest was designed to recognize Rite Aid pharmacy associates for their commitment to providing excellent customer service.
