Tom’s of Maine sponsors small wellness businesses

Tom’s of Maine is looking to aid small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.

Through its #NatureNurtures program, the Kennebunk, Maine-based company is sponsoring 50 small businesses across the country to help bring the power of the outdoors to everyone stuck indoors.

Featuring daily video experiences set in nature, Tom’s of Maine Instagram page will highlight a new #NatureNurtures experience hosted by a local yoga teacher, wellness expert or nature guide to help foster a connection with nature, encourage healthy routines at home, and provide healing when it is needed most, the company said.

“With many small businesses across the country impacted by COVID-19, we wanted to spotlight the local wellness experts and nature guides that can help rejuvenate us during this uncertain time,” Rob Robinson, brand and goodness leader at Tom's of Maine, said. “As a company founded by wellness entrepreneurs, we have a long-standing commitment to supporting small businesses and nonprofits that help protect nature and aid people in need. We believe in the healing power of nature, and at a time when we most need to venture outside, connect and heal, we think these daily wellness experiences that bring the outdoors inside can have a positive impact.”

Funded entirely by the brand, the initiative also includes a $50,000 commitment to support 50 local businesses across the nation’s 50 states. Some of the #NatureNurtures experiences will include:

  • Vinyasa Yoga with The Portland Yoga Project in Maine;
  • Guided Meditation Session by the New Stress Relief in California;
  • Goat Yoga with Lively Balance Wellness in Idaho;
  • Mommy & Me Fitness Class with Born Well in Pennsylvania; and
  • Bird Watching with IndiGo Birding Nature Tours in Indiana.

In addition, the company is asking the public to join the program by nominating a local wellness business that may be featured.

To date, Tom’s of Maine has donated $60,000 and nearly $500,000 worth of personal care products to Direct Relief, an organization that has been providing protective gear and supplies to communities hit the hardest by COVID-19.
