  • Rite Aid to leverage RangeMe tech platform for product sourcing

    SAN FRANCISCO — Rite Aid plans to leverage RangeMe, an online platform that streamlines new product discovery between suppliers and retailers, to scale its product innovation efforts.

    “We strive to provide a tremendous in-store experience for our customers and that starts with our product offerings,” said Bill Bergin, Group VP of health and beauty at Rite Aid. “With RangeMe, we can now scale our discovery efforts and continue to source products that are unique and meaningful for our customers.”

    Camber Pharmaceuticals on Monday awarded Walgreens Boots Alliance in recognition of its status as the No. 1 trading partner for 2016-2017.   • CPSC presents Walgreens with award for medication disposal program

    SAN DIEGO — The California Product Stewardship Council this week presented Walgreens with the 2017 Infinity Arrow Award for Service and Take Back in recognition of the company’s Safe Medication Disposal program. The disposal program, launched last year, is the first ongoing national effort of its kind by a retailer to combat the national drug abuse crisis, the company said.

  • Kroger promotes flu shots and giving back through One Shot, One Meal initiative

    CINCINNATI — Kroger on Thursday announced its second annual health and wellness campaign, One Shot, One Meal, in partnership with The Little Clinic and Feeding America. From Aug. 17 through April 1, 2018, Kroger will donate one meal through the Feeding America network of food banks for every flu shot administered at all Kroger family of pharmacies and The Little Clinic locations.

  • Wegmans to open new store concept

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets is expanding its footprint with a new concept.

    In a first for the 101-year-old grocer, Wegmans said it will open a two-level store, at Natick Mall, Natick, Mass., with direct access to the shopping center. The 134,000-sq.-ft. store will be located in a building that formerly housed one of the mall's anchors, J.C. Penney.
