  • Walgreens to offer exclusive 'Walking Dead' toy

    Consumers and fans of "The Walking Dead" can now pick up an exclusive Rick Grimes action figure, along with their shampoo or prescriptions, at Walgreens.

    The drug retailer will carry the McFarlane Toys action figure starting in January. The exclusive 5" Walking Dead Constable Rick Grimes figure will cost $14.99 and come with a snub-nose pistol as an accessory.

  • Dollar Tree raises outlook as earnings soar

    Dollar Tree on Tuesday reported a third-quarter profit that more than doubled compared to last year amid lower merchandise and freight costs. The retailer also lifted its guidance for the fourth quarter. 
     
    Dollar Tree’s net income for the quarter, ended Oct. 29, rose to a better-than-expected $171.6 million, or 72 cents a share, up from $81.9 million, or 35 cents a share, in the year-ago period. The prior year included some charges and markdowns related to the Family Dollar business, which Dollar Tree acquired in 2015.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Tuesday continued its push to make overdose reversal drug naloxone available to patients without a prescription, rolling out the drug’s availability at its more than 150 Louisiana locations. 
     
  • Q&A: Target Chief Merchandising Officer Mark Tritton

    Target's chief merchant says the retailer is hoping to have a bright holiday by emphasizing low prices as well as highlighting private-brand clothes and splurges for the season, according to a new interview with the Associated Press.

    Mark Tritton became chief merchandising officer at Target in June after joining the discount retailer from Nordstrom.

    Tritton, known for his success with Nordstrom's private labels, talked with the Associated Press about the holiday season.

  • Walmart mounts big offense for Cyber Monday

    Walmart has fired the first shot in the Cyber Monday wars.
     
    The discounter said it will launch its “Cyber Week” sales several days early this year, with the first round to be offered on Friday, Nov. 25, at 12:01 a.m. (EST).
     
    In announcing the deals, Walmart noted it has nearly tripled its online assortment to more than 23 million products from 8 million last year, with the growth partially driven by the increase in the chain’s third-party sellers.

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Just in time for open enrollment, many Medicare Part D members can now turn to Kmart Pharmacy for copays as low as $1.

Kmart pharmacists offer care beyond the counter, including advice on everything from prescription coverage to over the counter medications.
