  • Walmart mounts big offense for Cyber Monday

    Walmart has fired the first shot in the Cyber Monday wars.
     
    The discounter said it will launch its “Cyber Week” sales several days early this year, with the first round to be offered on Friday, Nov. 25, at 12:01 a.m. (EST).
     
    In announcing the deals, Walmart noted it has nearly tripled its online assortment to more than 23 million products from 8 million last year, with the growth partially driven by the increase in the chain’s third-party sellers.

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Walmart Wellness Day, the largest single-day health screening in the nation, was another huge success the company shared with Drug Store News.

    Nearly 250,000 free health screenings were conducted and 52,000 immunizations were administered in more than 4,600 Walmart stores last month.

  • Albertsons donates 5K flu vaccines to vets, homeless

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons Co. recently announced its donation of 5,000 flu vaccines to 21 non-profits that serve veterans, low-income communities and people and families that are homeless. The donation saw Albertsons providing staff pharmacists to administer on-site vaccines through mobile vaccine clinics. 
     
  • Positive Q3 comps, e-commerce momentum lifts Walmart sales ahead of holiday season

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Walmart is already realizing the benefits of its focus on a scaled e-commerce operation. Reporting third-quarter results Thursday the company noted that e-commerce has contributed 50 basis points to its comparable growth of 1.2%, which is the strongest contribution, yet.

    And the company is still a week away from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Which means, Walmart, along with its recent Jet.com acquisition, is still just revving its engines.

    MINNEAPOLIS -- Target revealed on Thursday its 10 Days of Deals promotion, featuring discounts on some of the retailer's most popular products, including toys, electronics, beauty and more.

    Guests can shop the deals beginning Saturday, Nov. 19, through Monday, Nov. 28, in stores and on Target.com.

  • Walgreens collaborates with Baptist Health on pharmacy and clinic operations

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Beginning in early January 2017, Baptist Health's retail pharmacy operations will open under Walgreens ownership at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville as part of a collaboration focused on improving and coordinating healthcare for residents of northeast Florida. And in May 2017, Baptist Health will assume the operations of three Walgreens Healthcare Clinics.
