    DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens is now offering flu shots at all of its pharmacies, including Duane Reade pharmacies in New York, and at all Walgreens Healthcare Clinic locations, the  company announced Monday.

  • Walgreens expands safe medication disposal kiosk program across Illinois, Iowa

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - In the past week, Walgreens launched its safe medication disposal kiosk program in both Illinois and Iowa with the installation of drug take-back kiosks at 53 Walgreens locations. The launch is part of Walgreens effort, announced in February, to install safe medication disposal kiosks at more than 500 of its drug stores around the country.

  • Narrowing strategy key to win with digital

    When it comes to online retailing, said a Walgreens executive, the way to win with digital is by narrowing your strategy, not broadening it.

    That’s what Wayne Duan, director of digital commerce for Walgreens.com, told attendees of a panel discussion at the NACDS Total Store Expo in Boston on Sunday. Duan added that narrowing down the digital strategy is exactly why Walgreens decided to shut down drugstore.com and Beauty.com two weeks ago.

    Telehealth is expected to grow tenfold, according to Walgreens director of digital health Atul Singh and MDLive VP strategic partnerships Amy Clark who led an Insight Session Monday examining the growth, benefits and future of telehealth and telemedicine. Since 2014, Walgreens and MDLive have collaborated to offer telemedicine visits with MDLive physicians through Walgreens’ mobile app and website.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. – Results from a new study, developed in collaboration between Walgreens and the University of Chicago, suggest that pharmacy interventions and benefit plan designs with low co-pays could be key factors in helping to improve adherence to statin medications for patients living in minority communities.
