    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart is counting on the “connected customer” and strong e-commerce growth as its two competitive weapons in the ongoing digital retailing war.

    Walmart has augmented its fiscal year 2019 guidance with an expectation that e-commerce sales growth in the United States will increase by a staggering 40% by 2019. Walmart also predicted that consolidated net sales will grow at or above 3%, driven by comp-sales and e-commerce growth.

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Eager to streamline the often frustrating task of merchandise returns, Walmart will introduce Mobile Express Returns. Starting Nov. 9, the new service will enable online customers to use the Walmart app to begin the returns process — before even heading to their local store.

    Here’s how it works: Customers follow prompts on the Walmart app to find their transaction and pinpoint the merchandise they want to return. Once completed, they can go to their local Walmart store, and enter the Mobile Express Lane.

  • Walmart’s Google Home shopping partnership goes live

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has officially gone live with voice shopping on the Google Home platform.

    As announced in August, the discounter is partnering with Google to allow its customers to shop for Walmart items through voice via Google Assistant, the search giant's online shopping platform that lives on its smart speaker. On Wednesday, the partnership went live, with more than 2 million Walmart items available through voice.

  • Walmart makes last-mile delivery acquisition in NYC

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart is determined not to be bested by Amazon when it comes to same-day delivery.
     
    The discounter announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Parcel, a last-mile delivery startup that specializes in delivery of perishable items and general merchandise to customers in New York City. Operating out of a warehouse in Brooklyn, Parcel delivers goods the same-day, overnight and in scheduled two-hour windows, providing customers with live updates via text messages throughout the delivery process. 
  • Walmart reportedly mulling same-day delivery in NYC

    Walmart could be making another bold move in the online delivery game.

    Speaking at an advertising industry event in New York City on Wednesday, Marc Lore, president and CEO of Walmart eCommerce U.S., said that he expects the chain to offer free, same-day delivery in New York City “very soon,” Bloomberg reported.
