  • Kmart garners top ranking on pharmacy customer satisfaction index

    ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Kmart earned the top ranking — a score of 84 out of a possible 100 — in the health and wellness/pharmacy category in the recently released American Customer Satisfaction Index “Retail Report 2016.” Kmart’s ranking rose from a score of 76 the prior year, good for a 10.5% year-over-year increase.

    NEW YORK — A host of drug store industry-related companies were named to the 2017 National Association for Female Executives Top Companies for Executive Women. In alphabetical order, these companies, among the 60 named to the list, include Abbott Labs, Cardinal Health, Colgate Palmolive, Eli Lilly, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg, L’Orèal, Merck, Procter & Gamble, Roche, Target and Walmart.

    The top three brands in this year’s list of breakthrough brands, defined as those brands either introduced within the 52 weeks ended Dec. 25, 2016, or those brands that experienced blockbuster incremental growth in that time frame, feature the leading meal-replacement solutions on the market today in Premier Protein, Clif Bar and SlimFast, according to IRI. A fourth brand — Quest Nutrition’s Quest Bars — also ranks high on the list. It’s reflective of the consumer need for products that embody an aspirational health- and-wellness direction that many U.S.

  • Walmart enhances pharmacy customer experience

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has taken steps to greatly enhance the experience of its pharmacy customers, providing easy refills and an ability to “skip the line.”

    Regarding easy refills, after a one-time setup, customers can quickly refill prescriptions, track order status and view pricing and pickup details via the Walmart app.

    Once their order has been placed, customers can use new express lanes for easy pickup. Completing the transaction then requires three steps:

  • In-store, online investments driving 4Q comp growth at Walmart

    BENTONVILLE, Ark.— Walmart stock was trading higher 3.1% by more than $2 per share to $71.50 in early afternoon trading following the greatest quarterly increase in same-store sales since July 2012. According to the company, Walmart U.S. comp sales increased 1.8%, driven by a traffic increase of 1.4%. Neighborhood Market comps increased approximately 5.3%.

  • Walmart not combining store, online buying teams

    Despite an earlier report to the contrary, Walmart is not combining its online and store buying functions.
     
    Reuters had reported that the discounter was combining its online and store buying operations as it moves to make itself more competitive with Amazon. The report was picked up by numerous media outlets.
     
    Based on information from Walmart, however, the chain is not merging the stores and walmart.com buying teams. The two will continue to operate as two separate teams.  
     

  • Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart and Target oppose Border Adjustment Tax

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — More than 100 retailers and trade associations, including Walgreens Boots Alliance, Rite Aid, Walmart and Target, have joined the Americans for Affordable Products coalition in an effort to stop the Border Adjustment Tax, otherwise known as BAT, which is a component of the U.S. House Republican tax reform proposal.
