  • Walmart Foundation, nonprofits to provide free online federal and state tax preparation

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Walmart Foundation, Goodwill Industries International, National Disability Institute and United Way on Monday launched the 2014 MyFreeTaxes program, an initiative offering free online federal and state tax preparation in all 50 states. MyFreeTaxes provides free federal and state tax preparation and filing assistance, both online and in-person, to eligible households earning $58,000 or less a year.

    DENVER — The Walmart Foundation’s Colorado State Giving Program has awarded $321,000 to eight Colorado nonprofits that are helping to fund local programs to improve education, women’s economic empowerment and healthy eating, as well as to fight hunger. The organizations include We Don’t Waste, Lapuente Home, Care and Share, Kids Aid, Project Angel Heart, Women’s Resource Agency, Broadway Assistance Center and Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado.

    NEW YORK — Coty has announced that Brian Falcone will serve as SVP sales, overseeing all sales activities for Coty Beauty U.S. mass brands.

    Falcone will be responsible for field sales, customer marketing, category management, wall strategy and fixture planning.

  • Former Barnes & Noble exec to lead Sam’s Club e-commerce site

    NEW YORK — Former Barnes & Noble executive Jamie Iannone has been appointed president and CEO of Samsclub.com in a restructuring that integrates Sam’s Club’s online business into the Walmart’s Global eCommerce business unit based in California. Previously, most of the warehouse club’s online business was run separately out of the retailer’s headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.

  • First screenings of the year at Sam's Club to take place Saturday

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Sam's Club is offering free health screenings for the New Year on Saturday, the club retailer said.

    The screenings are available at the 581 Sam's Club locations that operate a pharmacy and will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The screenings are the first of a series of monthly screenings that will take place on the second Saturday of each month through October.

    Screenings include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index and vision.
