  • Albertsons trains pharmacists to dispense prescription-free Naloxone spray in 13 states

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons on Thursday announced that it had trained 3,000 of its pharmacists under its various banners to administer Adapt Pharma’s Narcan Nasal Spray and counsel patient on how to use the opioid overdose reversal drug. 
     
  • Albertsons, Cardinal execs among those named to ACPE leadership posts

    CHICAGO — Anthony Provenzano, VP of pharmacy compliance and government affairs for Albertsons, and Michael A. Moné, VP associate general counsel-regulatory for Cardinal Health, are among a group of executives elected to Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education leadership posts. Elections were held during the ACPE board of directors meeting, which took place last month.

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons on Monday — the two-year anniversary of its merger with Safeway — shared some of the progress the company has made since the combination made it the second-largest supermarket company in the United States. The merger created a collective company with 2,230 stores and a team of 250,000 people across 19 banners. 
     
  • Reports: Albertsons calls off Price Chopper deal

    NEW YORK — Albertsons decided to drop its bid to buy Golub, parent company of Schenectady, N.Y’s, Price Chopper chain, according to several news reports.

    Neither company confirmed merger talks, but Drug Store News reported on Nov. 30 the two companies could be nearing a $1 billion deal.

    BOISE, Id. — Albertsons on Monday announced a new addition to its head its digital marketing strategy, naming Narayan Iyengar its SVP, digital marketing and e-commerce. He will lead the company’s digital marketing for loyalty programs, shopper marketing and overall digital presence, as well as all aspects of the e-commerce business, which includes home delivery. 
     
  • Albertsons Specialty Care gets ACHC accreditation

    BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons announced Thursday that its accreditation status for its Albertsons Specialty Care services has been approved Accreditation Commission for Health,  making it the largest national food and drug chain with this accreditation and an in-house specialty care service for pharmacy patients. 
     
    Albertsons said the accreditation would allow the company more industry adaptability, which it says translates to increased affordability for patients and accessibility of specialty care services. 
  • Albertsons announces its banners have stocked flu shots

    BOISE, Idaho — Following a letter from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noting that the flu is widespread in Idaho, Washington, Massachusetts, California, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania, Albertsons announced this week that its pharmacies have stocked the standard and high-dose flu vaccines.
