  • Report: Kinney Drugs recognized for performance in prescription management

    Kinney Drugs was recently recognized for its patient medication adherence performance in 2015. According to North Country Now, the recognition is part of the performance program by CVS Caremark, the prescription benefit management business of CVS Health that focuses on driving improvements in medication safety and adherence and improving health outcomes of each patient. (North Country Now).

  • CVS Health named to CIO 100

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Health on Wednesday announced the receipt of two distinguished awards by CIO for excellence and leadership in information technology.

    The company was recognized as one of the CIO 100 Award winners for its implementation of an integrated digital pharmacy application. The 29th annual award program recognized CVS Health for integrating three CVS pharmacy platforms where consumers can manage all their prescriptions from a single, self-service digital experience.

  • WBA's Ornella Barra receives Guido Carli award

    DEERFIELD, Ill. - The Associazione Guido e Maria Carli, an Italian association founded in 2010 to honor distinguished personalities from the world of economics, high finance, culture and social commitment, last month honored Ornella Barra, EVP Walgreens Boots Alliance and president and chief executive of global wholesale and international retail, with its coveted Guido Carli award among 12 of her compatriots.

  • APhA names prominent pharmacy educator president-elect for 2017-2018

    WASHINGTON - The American Pharmacists Association last week announced the election of Nicki Hilliard of Little Rock, Ark., as 2017–2018 APhA president-elect. Hilliard will succeed Nancy Alvarez of Lake Forest, Calif., to the office of APhA president on March 19, 2018, at the end of the 2018 APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Nashville, Tenn.

    Also elected to serve three-year terms on APhA’s board of trustees are Sandra Leal of Tucson, Ariz., and Randy McDonough, of Iowa City, Iowa. Both terms will begin in March 2017.

    WASHINGTON — Independent retail and specialty pharmacy chain Quality Specialty Pharmacy recently announced that it had received full Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation from URAC. 

  • H-E-B announces $250,000 in scholarships to UIW's new health professions program

    SAN ANTONIO — H-E-B announced early this week that it will partner with the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) to award the first 25 public high school students to enroll in UIW's new Texas Top 5% Direct Admit Health Professions Program with $2,500 scholarships renewable up to four years ($10,000 per student) — a total of $250,000 for the program.
