  • J M Smith Corp. names new CFO and chief technology officer

    SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The board of directors of J M Smith Corp. has confirmed Philip Ryan III as CFO and named Kevin Welch to the role of chief technology officer. Ryan will also assume the role of treasurer following the retirement of James Wilson Jr. on Oct. 1. Wilson has been employed with the company since 1987, serving first as controller before being elected treasurer and then being named CFO.

  • Pharmavite names new CEO familiar with marketing to moms

    NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Pharmavite on Monday named Jeff Boutelle the company's new CEO and board member, effective Aug. 7. Noriko Tojo, Pharmavite's current CEO will continue to serve as chair of Pharmavite's board and CEO of Otsuka Medical Devices.

  • Walgreens relocates pharmacy operations support center to Chandler, Ariz.

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Tuesday announced the relocation of its Tempe pharmacy operations support center.  The current facility in Tempe will remain open as a pharmacy mail services support facility to allow for future growth.

    WASHINGTON — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has shared its thoughts on the proposed Border Adjustment Tax with members of the Senate Finance Committee ahead of the committee’s hearing this week.  In its comments, the organization outlined the impact that the BAT would have on pharmacies and patients.

  • Anheuser-Busch to acquire Hiball

    ST. LOUIS — Anheuser-Busch is bringing an organic energy drink and sparkling energy water maker into its brand portfolio, expanding its reach in the no-alcohol sector. The company is acquiring San Francisco-based Hiball, maker of the Hiball Energy and Alta Palla brands.

    The company said that energy and sparkling water categories are two of the fastest growing categories in the beverage industry, and that Hiball’s brands would benefit from Anheuser-Busch’s wholesaler network and operational expertise.

  • PepsiCo names new president, shuffles 2 more execs

    PURCHASE, N.Y. — PepsiCo on Thursday announced three senior leadership appointments, including naming a new president. Ramon Laguarta, currently CEO of PepsiCo’s Europe Sub-Saharan Africa, or ESSA, segment, will assume the position of president, effective Sept. 1.
     
    Additionally, current CEO Latin America, or LATAM, Laxman Narasimhan will become CEO LATAM and ESSA, and current president of Russia, Ukraine and CIS Silviu Popovici will be president ESSA, both effective Sept. 1.
     
  • CVS Health opens Fort Bragg training facility

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health has opened a new Talent Connect Center that will serve the Fort Bragg, N.C. military community as part of the newly dedicated Fort Bragg Career Resource Center. The center serves as a skills-focused employment training facility that connects service members leaving active duty with companies who can offer training and employment.

  • Fred’s promotes Jenne to CFO

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s Pharmacy has promoted one of its own to lead the company’s finances. The company on Wednesday named Jason Jenne EVP and CFO, effective immediately, succeeding outgoing CFO Rick Hans, who it said was departing to pursue other opportunities.
