  • Walgreens invests in high-tech customer contact center

    MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Walgreens is seeking to fill as many as 150 customer care advisor positions at its high-tech customer contact center in Muscle Shoals, Ala., pushing the total workforce at the Northwest Alabama facility to around 600, officials from the Alabama Department of Commerce announced last month.

    Shoals officials said the customer contact center is a major employer in the region and its expansion is welcome news.

    CINCINNATI — Kroger on Monday was honored by the Cincinnati Business Courier as a 2017 Healthiest Employer.  The award recognizes the company for its commitment to the health and wellness of its more than 443,000 associates.

  • General Mills names new CEO

    MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills is looking to a longtime company executive to lead the company. Its board this week named Jeffrey Harmening CEO, effective June 1, and elected him to the board of directors. Harmening has been with General Mills for 23 years and has been president and COO since July 2016.

    WAUKESHA, Wis. — Hamacher Resource Group on Tuesday broke ground for a new building in Pewaukee, Wis., just a mile northeast from their current location. The entire company was present for the groundbreaking ceremony, celebrating the next step in the evolution of the business.

  • CVS, Target honored for diversity

    NEW YORK — CVS Health and Target were named to DiversityInc.’s “Top 50 Companies for Diversity” list, which honors the nation's top companies for diversity and inclusion management. Specifically, the list recognizes companies that excel in such areas as hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBT and veterans.

  • CVS Health teams with Roger Williams University for Executive Learning Series

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. — CVS Health is teaming up with the Center for Workforce & Professional Development at Roger Williams University's School of Continuing Studies to launch the third- annual Executive Learning Series for Diverse Suppliers, a customized professional development program for small and diverse business owners. The program will help diverse vendors gain critical management skills that allow them to expand their partnerships with CVS Health and drive their companies’ success in areas such as marketing, finance and human resources.

  • Publix appoints VP government relations

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix has named a new head of its government affairs efforts. The company on Tuesday named John Provenzano to be its VP government relations. He will be assuming the helm of Publix’s local, state and federal government affairs, as well as its political action committee, effective June 12.
