  • Former McKesson legal chief named chief compliance officer at Theranos

    PALO ALTO, Calif. — A former McKesson legal chief on Thursday was one of two executives to join Theranos, the lab-testing company that earlier this month was sanctioned by  the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the company announced.

    The two new executives will lead the company’s regulatory, quality and compliance efforts and will report to Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes.

  • APhA warns new language and anti-discriminatory rules may impact pharmacy

    WASHINGTON - Beginning July 18, pharmacies will be required to abide by rules that regulate discriminatory behavior and practices, such as refusing to provide adequate language assistance services to customers with limited English proficiency or refusing to dispense medications for gender transitions.

  • Theranos dealt severe blow by CMS

    PALO ALTO, Calif. — Less than one month following Walgreens decision to terminate its relationship with Theranos, the blood-testing lab on Thursday announced that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has revoked the company's CLIA certificate, among other sanctions. The revocation of Theranos' CLIA certificate precludes the owners and operators of Theranos from owning, operating or directing a lab until at least July 2018.

  • Diplomat clinical services manager gets oncology pharmacist certification

    FLINT, Mich. — Diplomat Pharmacy announced this week that Kelly Procailo, the company’s clinical oncology manager inside its Clinical Services department has received certification as a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.
