ACHC granted its Specialty Pharmacy accreditation to the Plymouth, Minn.-based company’s central specialty pharmacy, as well as its Specialty at Retail accreditation to the chain’s 100 community pharmacy locations.

The Tampa, Fla.-based company recently finalized the purchase of Amenia, N.Y. drug store Drug World Pharmacy, marking its New York entry.

Rite Aid announced on Friday that it plans to install 100 medication disposal units in select pharmacies over the next year, the latest measure being taken by the retailer as part of its multi-pronged strategy to address drug abuse and misuse in the country.

Gabe Guijarro, who operates The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy just 120 miles outside of Houston in Lufkin, Texas, has identified a way to drive patient adherence metrics higher, while keeping operating costs in check by using Cardinal Health’s Dispill Multi-Dose Packaging solution.

Dain Rusk, most recently group vice president of pharmacy for Albertsons, will join the Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer, effective June 1, as vice president of pharmacy.

The National Community Pharmacists Association’s new senior vice president of government affairs and director of its Advocacy Center Karry La Violette’s has been with the organization since 2011, during which time she has led federal government affairs program, which included Capitol Hill and Administration lobbying efforts.
